HOPP Summer Student Program (MSKCC)

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center offers research internships for high schoolers interested in science and medicine.

Current high school juniors (typically 14+ years old by summer), with at least a 3.5 GPA in science, legal U.S. work authorization, residency within ~25 miles of MSKCC, and a genuine interest in translational cancer research.

Hudson River Park

A paid, six-week summer internship for NYC high school students that combines field research (in marine biology, ecology, GIS/data analysis) with professional development, culminating in independent projects and a final poster presentation.

Open primarily to rising juniors and seniors—especially female-identifying or BIPOC students—with strong interest in STEM, previous involvement in related programs (like INCLUDES or GOALS for Girls), and availability to commit to the full program.

Jewish Museum Teen Intern Program

Paid, year-long internship for NYC high school students engaging in museum education and programming. Offers hybrid training and hands-on supporting/leading public programs, exhibitions, and tours.

Ladder Internship Program

Connects NYC high school students (and gap-year/undergrads) with top startups and nonprofits for selective, virtual 8–12 week internships—allowing participants to lead real-world projects, receive mentorship from startup managers and Ladder coaches, and present their work at the end.

Open to any high school student (including rising grades and gap-year participants) who can commit 10–20 hrs/week for 8–12 weeks, with virtual availability and interest in a mentored, project-based startup experience.

Ladders for Leaders

A component of NYC’s Summer Youth Employment Program, the nation’s largest summer jobs program, placing NYC youth (ages 16–24) in corporate, nonprofit, or government settings for development and mentorship, with a $16+/hour stipend.

NYC residents aged 16–24 with legal work authorization; must have some volunteer or work experience.

Mind the Gap – New York Theatre Workshop

This intergenerational theater-making program brings together NYC teens and adults over 60 to share stories and create original performance pieces. Participants meet weekly to write, devise, and stage collaborative works in a professional theater environment.
