New York Hall of Science

Engages NYC high school and college students as “Explainers” who facilitate museum exhibits, lead science demos, and help develop programming, while receiving professional mentorship, STEM career workshops, and hands-on outreach training.

Applicants must be current high school (or college) students, typically seniors or juniors, living in the NYC area who demonstrate interest in STEM, effective communication skills, and a commitment to part-time employment at the museum during its operating season.

New York Historical Society – Student Historian Program

Offers teens a chance to explore history and museum careers while earning a stipend; A paid 5-week summer internship where students research historical themes, collaborate with historians, develop exhibits, and lead public tours; includes a $700 stipend.

Open to New York City high school students (typically in grades 9–12) living in the five boroughs, available for a 10-week session, and motivated by environmental science and hands-on stewardship.
