Get a Financial Life NYC FAQ

The GFL NYC curriculum is made up of ten financial lessons presented on Google Slides. Each lesson fits into a single 40- to 60-minute high school period, and the curriculum is designed so that a teacher without a background in financial literacy or economics can teach it in an 11th or 12th grade high school class. All lessons have detailed notes for teachers that provide both step-by-step guidance on how to present the material, as well as additional optional reading and research for further context and color.

Anyone—from students to teachers to parents—can create a free account on this website, download the presentations to a computer, and edit them.

The curriculum was developed by personal finance author Beth Kobliner as well as Jonathan Wroble, based on the input of 250+ educators, principals, nonprofit leaders, journalists, and students. It is a collaboration with the Heckscher Foundation for Children, a leading nonprofit for NYC education.
